Wildlife Calendar Honors
For nine consecutive years, from 2019 through 2027, my wildlife paintings have been selected for the North Carolina Wildlife Calendar, beginning with a cover selection in 2019. My work has also appeared in the West Virginia Wildlife Calendar, including two cover selections.
These honors are especially meaningful to me because they allow my paintings—and the wildlife that inspires them—to reach thousands of people beyond my studio. Many of these works begin with animals I’ve encountered and photographed myself, then become paintings intended to capture not only their beauty, but the experience of discovering them in the natural world.

Three of my wildlife paintings have been selected as cover artwork for state wildlife calendars in North Carolina and West Virginia.
Sharing a Connection with Wildlife
Having my work selected for these calendars has been especially meaningful because the paintings reach far beyond my studio. Each calendar brings images of wildlife into homes and workplaces throughout the year, giving people another opportunity to notice and appreciate the animals and landscapes around them.
Many of my paintings begin with wildlife I’ve encountered and photographed myself—from birds nesting in my own yard to animals discovered while hiking and traveling. I hope the finished paintings do more than portray those subjects accurately. I want them to capture some of the curiosity, connection and appreciation that comes from experiencing nature firsthand.
The Paintings Behind the Honors
Across North Carolina and West Virginia, eleven of my paintings have been selected for state wildlife calendars—some more than once. Together, they represent subjects ranging from backyard birds and native fish to mammals encountered in the field, reflecting the variety of wildlife that continues to inspire my work.
